What the app can access, and why
The app only uses what you allow, only on your device, and only to do what you ask.
- Photos and videos. To find duplicates, similar shots, screenshots, large videos and similar items, and to compress or convert items you choose. Photos are analysed on the device. They are never copied, uploaded or shared. If a photo is stored in iCloud, Apple's Photos system may download it so the app can read it. That transfer is between your device and iCloud, under Apple's policy.
- Contacts. To find contacts saved twice and merge them after you review them. Nothing leaves your device.
- Files and folders you choose. On iPhone and iPad, a folder you pick with the system picker. On Mac, your home folder, which you choose once in the standard macOS panel, to look for files such as caches, logs, old installers and large files. The app remembers your choice on your device.
- Notifications (optional). One weekly reminder created on your device. You can turn it off at any time.
- Device readings. Storage, memory, processor, battery and power mode are read on your device and shown to you.
What is stored on your device
- Your settings (for example appearance and similarity levels).
- Two figures (space that can be freed and space freed so far) that the app shares with its own widget.
- On Mac, a local list of the items the app moved to the Trash, so it can show you where they went.
All of this stays on your device and is removed when you delete the app.
